Exactly what is primary food? Joshua Rosenthal of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition contends that primary food nourishment is just as important as the nourishment we get from the food on our plates. Primary food is the nourishment we receive from physical activity, relationships, our careers and spirituality. Joshua contends that when these areas are out of balance that people often seek to rectify the situation through eating excessive amounts of food or by consuming more toxic food.
By comparison secondary food is the food we put on our plates. Most of us thought that what was on our plates was the totality of our nutrition, but Joshua extends that beyond the plate to reach into every aspect of our lives!
